Giulianova, Saturday, December 18, 2021 – From 8:30 PM, in the hometown setting of the PalaCastrum, Giulianova boxer Edoardo D’Addazio returned to the ring to face Moldova’s Marius Col in his third professional bout in the super lightweight division.
Momentum After Two Wins: D’Addazio’s Rise
The bout followed naturally from D’Addazio’s first two professional victories: the win on September 18, 2021 against Fabrizio Mezzone and the success on November 6, 2021 versus Croatian fighter Matija Petrinic—both stoppage wins. This third outing represented another key step in the young fighter’s development, designed to build experience and confidence on the road toward an ambitious objective: the Italian national title in his division.
In D’Addazio’s corner, the technical team was led by coaches Luciano Caioni and Paolo Di Cristofaro, who oversaw his preparation and ring strategy.
Marius Col Arrives in Italy: Welcome and Fight Week in Giulianova
Challenger Marius Col arrived at Rome Fiumicino Airport, where he was welcomed by members of the organizing staff and escorted to Giulianova. The Moldovan fighter stayed at the Hotel Kiara Residence together with his team, including his coach and agent Tony Sorra from the Arena Boxing Club in Tirana.
The Fight: First-Round TKO and Third Straight Win
Edoardo D’Addazio celebrated his third consecutive professional victory, stopping Marius Col by technical knockout in Round 1. The result was notable because Col—according to the technical staff—was not a “walkover” opponent and, up to that point, had never been stopped before the final bell.
Once again the win came early. After Petrinic went down within minutes, Marius Col also had to give way under the pressure and power of the Giulianova fighter, now widely known as “Hammer.” D’Addazio started with composure, found the right moment in the opening round, and quickly shifted the fight’s balance: Col was counted, pushed back to the ropes, and the action ended with the referee’s stoppage—just as Col’s corner was considering throwing in the towel.
D’Addazio’s Words: “I Want to Become a Great Champion”
After the fight, D’Addazio commented on the victory in an interview by Gabriele Mastellarini for RAI 3 Abruzzo: “I landed a clean shot and from there the fight went downhill.” When asked where he wants to go in boxing, he replied: “I want to become a great boxing champion, to be remembered that way… and then whatever God wills.”
