Saturday, September 18, 2021, in the vibrant setting of Piazza Buozzi in Giulianova, local boxer Edoardo D’Addazio made his professional boxing debut in the super lightweight division (63.5 kg / 140 lbs). The event drew a large crowd and combined sport, entertainment, and community—marking an important milestone for boxing in the area.

The evening was organized by Accademia Pugilistica Giulianova in collaboration with ASD Italia Boxe and Pugilistica Rosetana. During the press meeting, journalists met the young athlete, event technical/administrative lead Paolo Di Cristofaro, FPI coach Luciano Caioni (D’Addazio’s trainer), and Domenico D’Addazio, the event’s organizational and commercial coordinator.

Local authorities also attended, highlighting the importance of the initiative for Giulianova: Mayor Jwan Costantini, Councillor Marco Di Carlo, and Sports Delegate Livio Persiani. Their presence underlined the value of sporting events for tourism promotion and the enhancement of public spaces in the city.

Before turning professional, Edoardo D’Addazio had already built strong amateur experience, with 40 bouts: 26 wins, 6 draws, and 8 losses.

D’Addazio vs Mezzone: The Fight Night

The program began as early as 4:00 PM with music and entertainment, followed by five amateur bouts. At around 9:00 PM, the opening bell marked the start of the professional contest: Edoardo D’Addazio vs Fabrizio Mezzone, a boxer from the Lazio region with greater experience but forced to deal with the intensity and determination of the young Abruzzo fighter.
